Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking is a full-service ski shop. We provide ski tuning, waxing, and mounting services as well as nordic and alpine stone grinding. We have Masterfit certified boot fitters on staff who are trained in advanced boot modifications and the making of custom insoles. We also have staff who are trained in the molding of thermo-liners for those who don’t require massive changes to the fit.
NORDIC
Waxing
- Basic wax $19.99 / A basic wax with Swix PS, or equivalent wax of your choice, for current temperature and conditions.
- Hotbox $39.99 / A hotbox treatment allows for wax to soak into your skis for an extended amount of time, increasing durability of the wax. We put a second coat of Swix HS, or equivalent, on all hotboxed nordic skis. You can also choose a specific wax for a hotbox.
- Race wax $54.99+ / We have many options and wax brands for race-level waxing and can work with you and your budget for a custom wax job.
Mounting / $29.99
Stone grinding / starts at $45
- We offer a variety of structure options for specific local conditions. Includes your choice of wax. A performance grind includes a hotbox treatment.
Epoxy work / shop time*
- We can fix most minor damage to nordic skis, including delamination and damage to the topsheet.
Pole cut / $10
ALPINE
Ski mounting / starts at $54.95
- We mount bindings from all major brands, including Dynafit, ATK, Marker, Salomon, Atomic, Black Diamond, G3, Look, Plum, and more.
- Telemark mounts - 22 Designs, Voile, and more.
- We also have to capability to hand mount certain specialty bindings. Please contact us for details.

- From basic to top end race level
Alpine tune - edge tune and wax / $49.99
Base repair and epoxy work / shop time*
- We can repair most minor and some major damage to skis - bring your skis in and we can help you assess the damage and cost. We do not offer edge replacement or sidewall repair at this time.
Alpine grind and tune / $69
- We offer an alpine grind structure that’s suited for most local conditions, and can grind to specific conditions as well. This includes an edge tune and wax.

Please note- During the winter, all boot fits are scheduled by appointment. We do our best to accommodate walk-ins but due to limited staff, are not always able to do so.
