For 17 years running, Alpacka has been the unquestioned leader of packrafting innovation. From a day at your local river to epic traverses across the most remote locations on the planet, the Alpacka Series is time tested and proven as the highest performance, most trusted, and most reliable packraft on earth.
The Whitewater Deck is the driest and warmest configuration, and our recommendation for cold climates with significant whitewater. It utilizes a hard boat style coaming/skirt set-up. This allows you to completely seal the boat, and make a safe wet-exit. If you are wanting to venture into the waves, the whitewater deck is the choice!
New for 2017, the Removable WW Deck features the same cockpit as the standard Whitewater Deck, but with the increased flexibility of a water resistant perimeter zipper allowing you to convert to an open boat for more relaxing days. The Removable WW Deck is a great choice for anyone seeking more protection than the Cruiser Deck, but wants flexibility for a broader range of paddling conditions. If you are planning to paddle in significant whitewater or get cold easily, the standard Whitewater Deck is a better option. Water can still seep in through the zipper (similar to the Cruiser deck. Looking to hit big drops and huge holes? Check out the Gnarwhal or Alpacalypse!
Adding the Cargo Fly to the boats increases the versatility exponentially. The three-piece system utilizes an airtight and watertight zipper installed in the stern of the boat together with two gear storage dry bags which are clipped in place along the inside of the raft tubes. Not only do you get greater storage capacity (2-60+ liter internal dry bags), but a better handling boat!
By moving weight closer to the paddler, you maintain a more natural position in the water. This keeps the tail engaged, and increases tracking. You also get a much clearer line of sight without all those bags on the front! The internal dry bags act as additional balanced air chambers for increased safety (even over a two-chamber packraft) in the event of a puncture.
For 2017, the classic design remains but with a few tweaks to make it better than ever. With the addition of a new one-way valve that offers high pressure inflation and easy deflation with a quick turn of the valve core, two lightweight welded stainless D-rings, and two ultralight handles installed on the inside of the tubes for easier carrying and portaging, these might be the best Packrafts yet.
