About Pack Size

Packs of larger size are made to fit the length of certain torsos, not to add more volume. If you need a little more volume get a different pack in the right size.

To determine the size you need measure from the C7 vertebrae (the bump just above the shoulders on the neck) along the spine to parallel with the iliac crest (the top of the hipbone. The distance between those two spots should be compared with a manufacturers sizing chart to determine size. Any good internal frame pack should be sized correctly or get a frequent visitors plan to a local chiropractor.

Day packs or packs with out frames are less particular about torso length. These packs often can be worn slightly large comfortably.
