Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking is a relatively small shop in Anchorage Alaska. To be honest up front we are not the Amazon.com of outdoor websites. Our ordering method is more difficult than most and if you want something from us the next day it is best to call. We have all the quirks of a small shop.
On the other hand you can call or email us and talk to someone experienced in most areas. We will answer emails that don't have to do with the equipment we sell and we will tell you if you would be better served by a product somewher else. We have been doing this for over 25 years.
We have an expert in most fields. We have Denali guides if you have questions about an impending climb. We have have an instructor for the Alaska Para Rescue group. We have cross country ski racers and lunatics on tele and AT skis. We have climbed from South America to K2 to Alaska. We also have some aging veterans with children and some semblance of wisdom. We also have people who just like to hike and backpack. We do this because it is our passion, not just our job.
What we hope to do with this site is offer a personal experience over the internet. We are always happy to here feedback about the site as well as the kind of service we offer.
